One of our missions as a piano duo is to collaborate with composers to create new works for piano duo and duet.  We believe that music is intrinsically tied to people and places, and that new music can be incredibly powerful when it actively connects composers, performers, and community members.  With this in mind, we are embarking on a series of commissions by composers that live and work in Ottawa, or have strong ties to the city.  We were both born and grew up in Ottawa, and the music community in the city is very important and special to both of us.  All of these works will be premiered in Ottawa, and we aim to partner with some of Ottawa’s excellent music presenters to stage these premieres.  To fund these commissions, we are contributing funds ourselves, asking our partner organizations to contribute, and - most importantly - asking the community for their support.  We love the idea of music being commissioned by the community, for the community.
